Good Sunday morning! I was searching for the pros and cons of joining a hunting and fishing club and did not find much. Over the last month or so, I requested information from deer, waterfowl, fishing and Pig private land sites, only to be contacted and given a sales pitch to join. It seems like a good idea to have access to a huge amount of private land at a reasonable price. I am looking for help on past experiences with these comprehensive memberships.

Always hunted free so I can’t help. Do extensive research on where and when you get access.

Clubs are a great thing to be a part of if you get the chance. I had a bad experience with a club last year with some accusations and things that were said so I might be a little biased, my only advice would be make sure you get to know everyone else involved and have club rules and policies in writing just in case. More than likely they'll want things done their way and won't make exceptions for change, but if you get to be apart of one its a lot of fun and the hunting quality is way better than public land.

Thank for the feedback cjp5711! Reviews are certainly a mixed bag on private clubs, with the carrot being lower pressured land. I am not buying it at the moment, especially after the hard press sales pitch last week.

They're definitely a great opportunity with very good hunting land if they are managed right. My opinion now going forward is I'm not going to join any club if I don't know anyone and if everyone else in the club have known each other for years. Even as a member you feel like you don't belong since they all tend to stick together.

One of the best clubs around is MCC in San Diego, county. But it is very pricey @ 3/5K a year. I'm not a member can't afford it but if I were to join one that would be it. I know a few members and they are good people. And yes one has to adhere to the club rules to hunt the property.
