Hello
I'm a new member, so I'll give a short bio.I live in southern CA, and hunt just about anything that has a season.I've been hunting about 18yrs, mostly D-11 and the high desert. My question is: has anyone tried Carrizo Plain for wild pigs? I read an article in California Hog Hunter about it , and was thinking of giving it a try. I usually try to go to Hunter Liggett, but now I work almost every weekend. Any info would be greatly appreciated by my nephew and I.

Carrizo Plains has pigs during most of the year, however they are tough to hunt as with most areas you'll have to get off the road and hike your butt off.  Spring time is generally the best on public land up here along the central coast.  My personal recomendation is that you go with a guide.  The amuont of money you'll spend on gas and the time you'll spend coming up here multiple times just to see a pig will be more if you just go out with a guide in the area.  Trust me I've done the public land thing for pigs way too long.  No more though I would use a guide.  If you want a really good guide try Boaring Experiences, they have a website, http://www.boaring.com

You can expect to see 20-100 pigs a day with those folks!
