I have a nice problem at work - I have to take several days of vacation in May.
Is anyone interested in doing some Public land Hog hunting with me??

I don't have a specific area in mind yet, only something within 3-5 hours from LA. I was planning on camping; a low-budget trip.

Anyone interested??

MNHNTR - I was at Carrizo 6 weeks ago. The "ranger" at the visitor center said that pig hunting was "pathetic" right now. My son and I put in 15+ miles hiking that weekend and didn't see any pig sign. We checked out around KCL, Selby, and next to some grain fields in the NW corner of the monument (although we did enjoy seeing an elk and an antelope).

Unless you have a "honey hole" there, I'd prefer to work another area. I've heard of hunting at Laguna Mountain and Sweetwater Springs. I'm working on getting some maps and more info on these areas.

As to dates, your mid-May dates work for me.

Let me know. . .

MG, I've hunted both Laguna and Sweetwater. I have maps for both. I'll check with bro and dad, see if they are available. If I'm unable to go, I'll be happy to lend you my maps and gps.

MN and MG, you guys own a Quad? I'd like to join you guys in May but it'll have to be a weekend only. I have the Condon Peak BLM parcel in mind. I've been there many times and knows the area like the back of my hand. Killed a buck and seen a few pigs on my past trips.

Hey Guys,

If you were going to hunt the Clear Creek area, I too would suggest the condon peak area (south side), also n/w of the towers off of santa rita peak, but east of the road which takes you north out of the CC area (but I would have to check my maps to be sure of that peak).

Boar tracks...the three day hunt at the end of the month, can I just show up on Saturday, pay and then hunt? Is there a limit of how many people they let in? I believe you work there, and I know I saw a post about the hunt you are refering to, so if you don't answer it's ok I will search and locate the thread. Thanks.

To all...I would think the Camp Roberts hunt would be the best as I don't think it's been hunted since the beginning of the year.
