Sorry you're not getting more help on this. But the reality is, there really isn't that much public land in Nor Cal to hunt pigs on. Indian Valley Reservoir and Cache Creek supposedly hold them, but I've never run in to them. Likewise for Joice Island. Napa and Sonoma counties are full of them, but it's mainly private land.

Best of luck, let us know what you find!

check out the guide services provided on this site, by the time you actually kill a hog on public land you will have spent more money that just booking a guided hunt. That is just the reality for hogs in CA. Bryson offers a good deal for non guided day hunts.

Sign up for the pig hunt in October, it's in this forum titled WILD PIG HUNT INC.II, only $400 your not gonna find a guided/semi-guided hunt that cheap anywhere else.

I could take you but it would have to be a one way trip.

You would enjoy the greatest hog hunt of your life but then I couldn't let you return and spoil the public spot for me.

In all seriosness you should consider a guided hunt or just put some time in the field.

Most people are not going to give up their spot. If it is public then it will be overran and the pressure will drive out alot of game.

I know it happened to me personally. I was spotted taking a nice hog out of a little known or thought of spot. Hogs are not even listed as a huntable population by DFG. A bunch of hunters showed up the next week while I was looking for deer and I heard dogs barking and pigs squealing in the morning. I am not sure how many more have been there since but that was two years ago and I have not found any fresh sign since. Who knows maybe being spotted was just a coincidence but I doubt it.

If it is private it is not worth blowing the oppurtunity by taking too many people or asking to take more.

I can safely say that if you put the time in there is more then one public spot holding hogs.

Once you find some you will probably want to keep it to yourself. I have hardly talked to a hunter that is not looking to shoot a hog. Either the first one or they are addicted to the sausage like the rest of us.

Good luck!

sorry, I'm with dglover on this one. I went thru hell and back twice until I finally found my public land hog honey hole. Remember only a couple of hundred are taken each year so get ready for a lesson in humility. Try watching Shawshank Redemption beforehand to get the right mind set.
