I don't usually post here but I felt all you california guys might appreciate it. I was headed home this weekend and along the side of 198 at the curry mountain access parking I saw two guys with a pretty good size boar taking pictures. In case you guys did not know the months of november-march are the best months to hunt public land for hogs. Especially this year we have little to no acorns so the hogs are traveling for food. This means public and private land. Anyhow, just thought you guys might enjoy a little public land sucess, it can be done.

Yupp, it can happen. Either work your butt off, or get lucky as heck.

Snorkel Bob, looking for directions to a pig? Check here for info on Curry Mountain and other BLM parcels. You can also log onto the DFG Hunting Site and request the Hunting Wild Pigs in California brochure. It includes public lands that are open to hunting, along with a summary of your likelihood of success.

Curry mountain 7 miles west of Coalinga, one of my friends also took a 25" four point of of there 2 years ago. Very steep though, definately an all day adventure.

Curry mountain is a very tough hike! But I have also seen pigs come off of that mountain. Make sure a hunt with a partner there and go very slow if it's wet.

Thanks for the words of encouragement on the pigs traveling!
