FHL is a good choice. The pass is good for one year, $50 pigs only, $100 for everything. Not a bad deal. To me it isn't a matter of how much game is there, but how many hunters are there. That is a deal breaker for me at least. I think I will begrudgingly head back there, I am just going to focus on areas that are larger and have walk in access only. There are some beast hogs in there, I have seen a bruisers in there one that tipped 250 to 300# at least, but I just could not get within bow range of him in an open field.

I might be there during that time. PM Sent.

somisbow,

I talked the engineers into adding a GPX download feature, but I don't know if MyTopo will charge for it?

On the right side under the map you will find 3 options:

Elevation Profile
Print My Topo
Download as GPX

Try it to see if you can download my GPX File of the BLM Boundary? I can remember the days before GPS, and the private patrols, so if you guys can download my GPX file you got it made.

I'm too old to pack out a hog by myself, so I will be calling on you. My boy had to cut classes at San Jose State, so he could pull me out of the river. Be careful entering TA-19 from the north. The Naci is really deep at that crossing during the winter.

map,
In order to use your maps, do I have to subscribe to cabelas/trimbleoutdoors or mytopo? I have a DroidX and use the backcountry navigator app, can your maps be loaded on my phone? Also do they work on a Magellen Gold GPS?

easymoney,

My GPX files are the basic building block, and they meet military mapping standards. What I have done is make an accurate GPS Track of the public hunting area boundaries. These GPX files are in the standard information exchange format for all gps software, so you can use them with just about anything. All my GIS Data is Public Domain, so there is no legal problems.

All you have yo do is use your current Cabela's User Name & Password to log onto the Recon Hunt Site:

http://cabelas.trimbleoutdoors.com/...Msg=You+must+be+logged+in+to+access+that+page.

1. On the left side select "Plan a Trip"

2. After filling out your Trip Info Select "Save and Continue to Map Editor" in the lower Right corner.

3. A world map will come up with some edit tool icons stacked vertical along the right edge of the map.

4. Select the Camera Icon to up load my GPX File. Note: When I post a secret URL here on the Forum it opens up the down load feature for my GPX File. Save that file to disk ahead of time, plus all the paper handout maps with Grid and what other media that I have attached.

5. With only my GPX File up loaded Select "Save and Preview", and a generic map will come up with the hunting area boundary. You can use it as such, load my handout map, or what ever you want, like Trophy Pic.

6. OK now, with the RECON HUNT Application loaded in your smartphone and setup with your Cabela's User Name and Password it will Load your prerecorded Trips, and Synchronize to the Cell Phone Server.

6. With the Recon Hunt Application running you must Select "Trip Guide" in order for the Server to know that you want a previous Trip. Otherwise, the application will start a a new Trip while you are holding the cell phone.

Good luck, and let us know how it turns out?

somisbow,

I just shut down Laguna Mountain, so if any of the regular forum members want it I will PM it. There is another forum down there that spends more time talking about Jesse than hunting. No sense in giving them our high tech achievements.

Anyway, if you double click the handout map image it will enlarge. At the bottom in Red Print it says, "Click here to download original copy of media."

You will need a folder for each Training Area on your Hard Disk. When you Save the original copy of the media, you will find that Trimble has assigned a new File Name. You probably should rename the file to something that make sense?

Keep in mind that there are 3 ways to enter data. One with the cell phone running Recon Hunt, (2) with the Cabela's/Trimble Server Site, and (3) uploading your own data. During this transfer you will be uploading your own data that you downloaded from my server.

OK, the media is not in GPX Format, it's regular JPC files. After you download them from my server, you must upload them into your server. That is why you need a folder for each Training Area. You will use the same "Camera Icon" that you used to upload the GPX File, but this time you must place it on the map with the tiny cross.

The Training Area Boundary and Entrance/Parking is in GPX Format. I also have the label in GPX.
