What pin is consider pin #1 on your timing chip? Is it from looking from the top with the dent facing away from you, the first pin to the left?  My second question is on the NEC PS2501-1 or -2 ,is the gold dot pin #1?
thanks, David

To locate pin 1 of any IC,  there is either a halfmoon notch and / or a dot on the ic, orient what ever it has to the left like so!

Thanks for helping me out Tinhorn I usually don't check this until Monday morning.

ON the 2501 or 2 the dot shows pin one as well just like the timer chip does.  The dot is always oriented to pin one.  So looking straight on at the chip the dot is usually to the left by pin one.  In Tinhorn's drawing the chip is oriented on its sidef with pin one facing down like his drawing shows.

I can send you the spec sheet if you need them.
