went out by my property in Kern county(d-9)..saw 3 seperate doe and for the practice I stalked within about 20 yards of two and even drew and held on one and she just stared..I swear the things must know we can't shoot'em, because they are just too easy..( but I got my Los Angeles either-sex tag, so the local deer won't be so lucky)
After I completed my last stalk I noticed movement on a distant ridge and see a black bear on a second ridge 500 yards away, BUT my pack was 200 yards the other way(I never take off on a long hike without my pack in those hills) and it was getting late anyway..
also saw a grey fox, so it was a good trip overall..
I just enjoy being out there, so getting meat is just a bonus.
