LL,
I am learning...I took all of these handheld from the ground. At times, there really wasn't enough light to handhold so I bumped up the ISO to 400 or even 800 to get a faster shutter. The 200mm on a digital rebel XT is supposed to be 280 mm due to the 1.6x factor of the cmos chip?. With the TC on it, I should have an effective 448mm F4 lense. I messed up and used one of the program modes to start and lost alot of good shots to the auto focus system...too many trees in the way. Once I set the camera to center focus only in Aperture priority mode things went much better. I manually focused/tweaked a couple shots. I took hundreds of photos and out of those got probably 30 outstanding pictures. The deer came to within about 10 yards of me (in full camo.) The nice thing about an 8 MP camera is I can crop the pics and appear to have been much closer. I have a 2 gig microdrive that will take around 550 jpegs. I took about 250 pics on that one battery. Great camera and lens I think.
I placed a new album in my webshots called Hog Hunting.
TNhunter,
I took some pics at my daughters softball game that turned out great...even through the chain link fence. Here's one.
