I lurk in the shed section often. I enjoy seeing the pics and envy the #'s and quality some of you find. Here in NC, shedding is tough. I do good to find 4-5 each year, with my record year being 8-9. I started looking for them about 4-5 years ago, but they are a rare find because the deer can be ANYWHERE in our area.

I've only found 3 so far this year, but all that changed this weekend. I had a turkey hunting trip to TX, and in between morning and evening hunts, I decided to do a little walking with my Dad to see what we could find.

I have never, ever, seen anything like it. In a matter of 45 minutes Saturday evening, Dad and I found 35+. We hit the area again the next day, and with 3-4 hours total for the weekend shedding, we ended up with SEVENTY FOUR

I felt like a kid looking for easter eggs. It was unreal. You could literally walk a drainaige area in a wheat field, bend down to pick up one, and look 40-50yds ahead and see a matching set. If you went 10mins without finding one, something was wrong. The last shed I found was by pure accident. I had picked up a broken 4pt, toted it to the fence, threw it over near the truck, and as soon as it hit the ground, it landed on a 5pt (2nd biggest for me) that I hadnt even seen. I can't explain it, but it was certainly awesome.

I brought 35 or so home and left the broken tine finds there.

Sorry, the pic is bad, but it's the best I can do. My card was full of great pics but somehow is corrupt and I cant retrieve one single shed/turkey pic off it

dang, great finds. alot of matches to. most of them look fresh. its gonna be really hard going back to your old areas now. that prolly spoiled you for life
i would have forgot about the turkeys and spent the whole time shedding. i dont know how u could have only looked for 3 or 4 hours. hard to tell what you could have come home with if you would have put in 20 hours

Wow it really looks like you have quality genetics in that area. Long tines on almost all of those sheds.

By chance did the buck in your avatar come from that area. I could see some resemblences there.

shedhunternb...yes, we did good on the turkeys. Our group of 6 ended up with 11 birds. I called in a great 3 bearded bird for my Dad and I ended up with a light weight (17#'s) daggered bird sporting 1.5" and 1.625" hooks. Man what a set of spurs.

CA...the buck in my avatar came from home..NC. I found all the sheds in TX.

Wish the card wasnt corrupt in the digital cam...I had some fantastic pics.
