ORDER
(Under the authority of 1994 PA 451)
Regulations on the taking of Lake Trout in MI-6 of Lake Superior
Under the authority of sections 41101 through 41105 of 1994 PA 451, being sections 324.41101
through 324.41105 of the Michigan Compiled Laws, the Director of the Department of Natural
Resources on May 28, 2003 ordered that the following regulations apply to the harvest of lake
trout in that portion of Lake Superior westward of 86 degrees 10 minutes west longitude near
AuSable Point in Alger County to 87 degrees 0 minutes west longitude near Laughing Fish Point
in Alger County (known as lake trout management unit MI-6):
• The daily possession limit shall be two (2) lake trout.
• The minimum size limit shall be 15 inches and the maximum size limit shall be 29
inches, EXCEPT that one fish in the daily possession limit may be 34 inches or greater in
length. Fish that are greater than 29 inches and less than 34 inches may not be retained.
• The open season shall be: open all year.
This order shall take effect June 18, 2003 and shall remain effective through March 31,
2004. Beginning April 1, 2004, anglers should refer to the 2004 Michigan Fishing Guide for
rules and regulations.
