The crew is returning to Oregon, this time in the west, after an unsuccessful trip to Eagle Cap. I'm dying to go, but she ain't gonna be happy

After my encounter with the first live elk I've ever seen(25 yds. and bugling) I can't stop thinking about it. Anyone know a good lawyer ?

Mike are you coming up for the late season in November or are you talking about next year? If you are talking about next year at least youll have a chance to get things changed into your name before she files for divorce lol

Mike,
I feel your pain. I am going to NW Colorado next fall with a group of guys for a DIY ELK hunt. I have been researching info and talking to guys for the past 2 and a half months. I have made a list of equipment needed, not just for me, but for all of the guys in our group. I am the group leader!!!!! My wife wants a second honeymoon, and I told her she can come, too, but she'll be responsible for childcare arrangements for my then-will-be 15m old daughter. I'd love to take her along, then we'd have someone to hang out at our camp, pack in and out a little extra gear and whatever. But you know that won't happen!!!! The thing is that 5 yrs. ago, I may have gotten her to go, but for some strange reason, now, she's a city slicker type girl. I will go next fall, and she will get over it. I have wanted to go on an Archery Elk Hunt for over 10yrs. and finally I have rounded up a group of guys like me who love to hunt, but have never had an opportunity to hunt anything other than our awesome OHIO WHITETAILS. Tell her you love her, but the call of the wild is heard! My wife has accepted it already, and actually understands, I can only hope for your sake your's will too.

Mike, if you find yourself stuck in CA to save your marriage like me, you can always do like me and take solice in planning next years hunt...it's a good way to kick the "I'd rather be elk huntin'" blues.

Nothin' like a good topo map and aerial photo's to take the blues away for a awhile.

Way to go, Mike!

A couple of those checks (with things the way they are today), and you'll be able to send her on a vacation while you go hunting!

Congrats on the sale Mike.

Man, I hear ya. My philosophy has been "balance." I always give her two thumbs up when she asks about going on trips with the girls. She needs to support you and your dreams. You might have to ask her point blank to support you in what you love to do. You might have to explain that your first and foremost priority in life is your family. You might have to remind her that your precious time in the hills is what gives you the motivation and rehabilitation to continue working hard, earning wages, fixing the fence, clothing the kids. She might need to know that you take great pride in putting protein on the table for your family. Let her know that your time outdoors makes you whole.

Go hunting.
