Reward offered in Yellowstone elk poaching
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) - A reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for illegally killing an elk in the park over the weekend.
Yellowstone rangers discovered the animal's carcass Saturday. They believe it was killed earlier that morning, park superintendent Suzanne Lewis said.
Lewis has offered a reward of up to $500 for information about the poaching.
Hunting is prohibited within the park's boundaries. Violators of the federal Lacey Act face up to five years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Any hunting equipment can be confiscated.
