I would like some references for a good guide in the Hollister area. It can also be more southern, all the way to King City. Not interested in anything even further south, as I am located in the Bay Area.

I have my dad come to visit and we want to have a fun day on a hog hunt (rifle) with a good chance of success. My dad will be a spectator. I may be able to get a couple more hunters to come along if it is necessary.

Who do you recommend I book the hunt with? I'd like to do a one day or two day hunt. I am looking for recent trips that you took and enjoyed. Please let me know soon, as I'd like to go end of Feb. early March.

give tom willoughby a call , he is out of king city his info is in the
guide review section of this page. you will not be disapointed.
you will see hogs, and you will shoot at a hog, whether you seal the
deal or not ,well....that depends on you of course. have hunted with him
on and off for the last 10 or so years, nothing but good things to say.
plenty of land and plenty of hogs, weather permitting, you will hunt
all day if thats what it takes to rack a hog. good luck . let us no
how you do.

I have hunted with Frank Morasci of Mustang Guide Service and he went the extra, extra mile so that I could finally bag a hog. There was a wild boar herd scooting and skedaddeling as we invaded the bedding area by the pond and the swamp in the ranch at 6AM. It was a sight to behold the spooked herd escape into the neighboring ranch and make a single file like a choo-choo train slowly climbing the gentle hillside as they marched into the distance. This was in 1999 and Frank worked very, very hard to finally make me connect. I was a very poor offhand shooter, missing big, big boars twice. The first boar was at about 100 yds. and there was a mist on the ground at 6AM and I could barely recognize if the huge head looking at us was a calf or a hog. After Frank confirmed that it was hog standing still, I waited too long to pull the triggah' and the huge hog ran off at a very fast clip and then I emptied the semi-auto rifle but of course shooting offhand at a fast escaping target I missed all shots. The 2nd boar was only at about 30 yds. after I ran full bore about a block trying to cut off this lone boar as it was trying to escape across the fence into the neighboring ranch. I was heaving and gasping for breath as I tried to steady the rifle on a fence post. The 1st shot missed and then the .338WM BAR jammed on the 2nd round because of a misadjusted gas valve. The hog made good it's escape into the neighboring ranch and Frank exclaimed "I can't believe you missed that shot!!!!". Frank then worked very hard driving up and down the hills, glassing and finally his assistant Keck spotted a hog sleeping under a bush on an opposite hillside measured at about 270 yds. with a rangefinder. After disturbing the hog, it started running downhill and on my 2nd shot I finally was able to hit it on it's face right at the nose bridge with my spare rifle, a .300WM Tikka. Frank definitely went the extra, extra mile finally connecting me with a bagged hog. I definitely can recommend Frank. God Bless.

Hunted with Tom Willoughby twice. First time the hunt lasted 40 minutes. Second time Tom And Blake worked their butts off putting my son and I on our hogs.
