Does anyone else remember Dean Alley? He would run DCM qualification shoots all over California and Nevada. A buddy of mine got me going on it and a couple years later my (now) ex-wife shot in one of Dean's shoots and qualified for her Garand.
That man seemed to have made it his life's goal to get every shooter within reach an M1. I was saddened when I learned of his passing. He did shooting a world of good by introducing so many of us to $165 M1 rifles.
West End Gun Club on the 2nd Sunday of every month, it's a nice CMP match and they have butts and the match is 200,300.and 600yards it's on the same road as Lytle Creek range but the turn off is closer to the main highway. For info call Randy Miller at 909-591-9632. West End also has a Varmint rifle 600 yard shoot every 3rd Sunday of the month( Not on Easter) it's a lot of FUN.
Datum is in the X-ring on West End! What a great shoot! 15 bucks for non-members, it's a real course of fire, 88 rounds and good company. I've been shooting it for about two years great fun.
Well I found out that my NSCA scores count as "marksmanship" even though it is shotgun shooting and I ordered a Garand from CMP. I went to the West End website and it looks like it was burned by the fire. I am going to go to the next match scheduled. As I am a beginner do they have instruction for the new guys and do they sell ammo for the match? Thanks.
