RMEF Rancho Cucamonga Chapter Elk Calling Contest. Bass Pro July 27 & 28 2013

This is the first ever regional qualifying event for the RMEF out of California. Winner gets to compete in the national event held at the annual RMEF Elk Camp. This a great family fun, and big event in many other western states and California has some pretty accomplished elk hunters. Get the word out for a good time and you get to see the great elk tour to boot.

I plan on attending, but I don't do much calling.

Jimmy Rizzo won the pro class in the #RMEF SoCal #elk calling contest at Bass Pro this past weekend, congrats Jimmy. He said a guide from one of the Indian rezes in AZ was his best competition. There were 8 callers in his class. He said he blew out a diaphragm call in the qualifier Sat and just winged it from there and made the final 4 cut for Sun. Jimmy said he got a nice trophy and Alpen spotter for winning. I asked him to send me a pic of this trophy so all to see here. Jimmy said his edge over the AZ dude was his estrous cow calls with a mouth call. The AZ dude couldn't do them on the mouth call and went to the open reed to make them and they just don't sound so sweet with the open reed.


Wayne Carlton, KC Ray and elk guide from Bishop and Jimmy Wagner from Cherry Valley Bowhunters. Anybody know their names? I missed both days at Bass Pro.
