Nothing really earthshattering to add. First of all, I don't know the guide. You can check out the CA Hog Hunter magazine website and do a search on him, to see if he's been reviewed, but I don't recognize the name.
Other than that, just be sure to ask all your questions before you get there. What kind of hunting will you be doing? Are there dogs involved... and how involved are they? Do you need your own water/drinks/food or is it provided? All that kind of stuff.
The more you have settled before you go, the happier you will be during the hunt. It's your dime, and you have every right to hunt like you want to.
This helps the guide too, because if you don't tell him what you want, he's gonna give you what he wants.
Most important... HAVE FUN! And remember, you and your family aren't going to go hungry if you don't kill a hog. So don't stress about the kill... enjoy the hunt.
