Rodeo star to endorse Elk Foundation, Roper

MISSOULA, Mont. – A rising star in professional rodeo, Forest Bramwell, is the newest celebrity spokesman for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) and Roper Apparel and Footwear. Bramwell, a champion bareback rider, will represent both organizations at the National Finals Rodeo in December in Las Vegas.

“Forest is the perfect person to represent our companies and the relationship we have together,” said Nick Rodrigue, Roper’s director of sportsman’s apparel. “Not only does he live the western lifestyle that Roper is so proud of, but he is also a proud hunter and conservationist, which is what RMEF is all about.”

Tony Schoonen, RMEF vice president of marketing and communications, agreed: “This is exciting news. Forest is an up-and-coming champion and we’re pleased that he picked RMEF as an outfit worth endorsing. He will compete in the National Finals Rodeo wearing Roper apparel emblazoned with RMEF logos. He’ll represent us in guest appearances at other venues during and after the rodeo, and he’ll also be traveling to Reno to appear at RMEF’s annual convention Feb. 27 through March 1, 2003.”

Bramwell is a native and resident of Pagosa Springs, Colo. When he’s not competing, he works in his family outfitting business, Astraddle A Saddle, guiding elk hunters and sled dog tours. He is currently ranked 5th in rodeo’s overall world standings, which automatically qualifies him for the chance to win the title of “World Champion Bareback Rider” when he competes in his second National Finals Rodeo (NFR) next month.

“I am really excited about this year’s NFR,” Bramwell said. “I know what to expect now and I have a strong focus.”

Roper Apparel and Footwear is the “Official Casual Wear” of RMEF. Based in Aurora, Colo., and founded in 1948, the company manufactures and markets distinctive clothing and footwear for men, women and children featuring a variety of styles and attitudes ranging from traditional and classic western wear to trendy high fashion to casual sportswear. Roper products are sold by more than 2,000 retailers in North America and Europe. For more information, contact Roper at custinfo@roperusa.com or 800-825-6555, or visit www.roperusa.com.

Working together in an ambitious campaign called “Pass It On,” members, volunteers and supporters of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation are conserving elk country at a pace exceeding 1½ square miles per day. Their organizational goal is to reach 5 million total acres—an area more than double the size of Yellowstone National Park—in 2005. Emphasizing permanent land protection and habitat stewardship, the Elk Foundation’s state-of-the-art mapping technology focuses the work in crucial elk winter range, summer range, migration corridors and calving grounds.
