Some snapshots I took in Romania last week. All the pics were shot in JPEG format because the weather was bad and as usual, I didn’t have enough time to try and get better pics.

Peles Castle near the city of Sinaia. If you are a fan of old muskets, this is the place to go. You are not allowed to take pics inside

Separate building from the main castle, it’s a restaurant now (and maybe a hotel)

Bell towers from a near bye monastery

The alter

I think this building once belonged to the monastery, it is now a casino, hotel, restaurant, or all three.

I forget the name of this city

Romanian country side ( a lot of wine grapes are grown in this area… btw, Romanian wine is outstanding)

Old fortress above the city of Rusnov (pronounced Rush-nov)

Just a shot of the restaurant at my hotel (lol). The tables were made from huge slabs of wood, I can’t imagine how much they weigh

And yes it is required by Romanian law that every foreigner must visit Vlad Tepes (Draculas) Castle at leat once before you can leave

Another monastery (Romania was lucky to keep most of its churches and monasteries during communism and they can be found all over the country) I believe the monastery below was built after the revolution (the fall of communism was not very peaceful in Romania)

Old style orthodox church near the monastery

A big cross on a big mountain behind the monastery

· A side note: It really pi&&es me off that every time I have been to Russia and now Romania, that certain religious denominations have to send their “missionaries” to countries with an established denomination… I see small groups of these people on my flights all the time.

The main street in the city of Campina

IMG_3389.jpg

The green car on the right is a communist Dacia (built by the communist government and pronounced Dacha), the red car on the left is a newer version… I’m not sure if they are still being produced

IMG_3388.jpg

Just outside of the city of Campina… goats taking a stroll through the neighborhood… in more rural cities and villages you can see cattle and oxen doing the same. They were so many edible mushrooms in this area, that you could smell them in the air (I have never experienced that before…. And I love mushrooms!)

more goats

that’s all, rest of the pics are too personal to post. Thanks for looking

OMG Clutch. Thank You Thank You !!!

I was stationed in Europe for 10 years and have been to so many countries, mostly on the bill of Uncle Sam. But during my travels I would take lots of pics like you just shared. Man they are Nice ! But somehow I have lost so many of the ones I have taken, or they are on paper. Remember that I was there before they came out with Digi cameras. At some time during my stay, they had just came out with copying to disk. Which I thought was dumb.... Ya look who was dumb now.

Your pictures bring back many great thoughts of my travels through Europe. I think that Poland and Romania were some of the best places that I traveled to. Again thank you for sharing, as my pics are forever lost.

Thanks Cameron, Mike, Fred, and Dave.

Cameron, eastern Europe is great... a hotel in London for two nights would cost about the same as I paid for a hotel in a resort area of Romania for seven nights.... and the food is better, lol.

Mike, I've been busy, busy, busy....... I need to make money to pay for my trips.

Dave, yes

It seems that way... at least until my second or last day where ever I'm at.
