Awesome story SuperDuty.

In response to your question about fishing the ponds . . .

I fish the ponds during the afternoon each time I visit the Tejon with excellent success. I have found that the best action is using plastic worms rigged Carolina style. My favorite color that seems to land the most fish is pumkin seed. Lots of action on the Berkely 4" pumkin seed worm. It is slightly fatter than your average 4.5" or 6" worm. Make sure to keep changing colors of worms after a few casts with no bites or hook ups. This seems to keep the fish interested. I also have success using pop-r's, usually smaller in size. As for color, I usually use something with a white body, red head, or a shad pattern. Haven't had much luck on spinners; tell you the truth, I have only tried them a few times as I am usually able to keep em coming with worms. The ponds are full of weeds, just make sure to drag the worm as slow as possible and watch for bites on the sink. If fishing the North pond I recommend fishing anywhere along the west shore. There are hundreds of frogs hoppin around also. You might wanna try a weedless frog. But like the spinner, I never have gotten around to really trying it. Hope this helps. Any plans on returning any time soon? I'll be heading up in the next week or two. Let me know if you are and we'll meet up. If you have any trouble finding the worms or anything else at your local dealer let me know, my company distributes and I would be more than happy to send you some.

Again, great story and congratulations! Tell your wife good thinking about being safe first. I would like to say that my mother was being as concerned about her hunting partners as your wife when she didn't squeeze the trigger last time she was up; however, I can't! She didn't squeeze one off simply because there were a couple cows about 20 yards to the east of the pig. Needless to say I never let her down for that one!
