Hello folks,
here is a pic of a recent target i shot with my new Ruger 22 Magnum 77/22VMBZ
4shotgroup77vmbz.jpg

the target was shot at 75 yards from a bench with sandbags using the Federal Premium ammo with the Seirra 30 grain jacketed hollow points looking thru an old Weaver K-12 scope that i plan on replacing due to the poor optics(plus the crosshairs are too fine for hunting purposes) this gun is as it came out of the box except for a lighter trigger pull and it seems to be a keeper......lol

what ya think ?

Gun Doc; I would say you have a "keeper" in that Ruger 22 mag. I also would say that you have done your homework on the bench to get the group you display. I enjoy accurate rifles, and my 541T Sporter is very accurate. There are some groups posted at Webshots, if you're inclined to look. My Webpage

Eagleye,

the gun sure is sweet to shoot and once you get set up on the benchrest it is kinda hard to stop shooting....hehehe

the rifle really shoots better than i had expected out of the box but i done a bit of accuracy work to it to get it to shooting like it does now

work i have done to the gun to get to these size groups was only minor things,
i lightened the trigger pull on down to 32 ounces and removed any creep then
tightened the bolt halves by grinding a new ''oversize'' pin and replacing the factory supplied one(this is the pin that holds the bolt halves together)doing this tightens up the headspace by a few thousandths and it really does help to reduce any fliers in your groups

check out the pic below:

22magdoubletarget.jpg

the groups above were fired at only 50 yards but are pretty decent...lol
the top group was shot with the Federal Premium 30 gr. Sierra JHP and the lower group was shot with the Winchester Supreme 34 gr.JHP(shot only 4 rounds due to me being out of ammo, but i'm sure that the last one if fired would have been in there with the rest)

these two selections of ammo just keep surprising me as to how accurate they really are and if you hold the gun properly it seems to put both loads in the same holes regardless they're different grain loads as well as being different velocity's

i looked at several of your pic's from webshots and it seems you definitely have a shooter or two yourself....hehehe

some impressive groups

Gun Docc; Yes, you definitely have things working well yourself! : big-grin-aqua:
Those 50 yard groups are worth braggin' rights, especially with a 22 Mag, which is not always the most accurate rimfire out there. Keep up the good work, and thanks for the compliment!
