Hey all,
Just thought I'd stop in and post a few pics of some bulls I saw yesterday. Saw around 20 6 pt bulls but had major problems getting within camera range. Here's a group I saw with one bull sporting a drop tine. I had to zoom in all the way so this pic isn't that good (the one with the drop tine is 2nd from right):

After a long stalk i blew it and they took off and i got these pics:

and heres "DT" on the right:

Wish i had better pics...maybe next weekend

Amazing. I live in Idaho and it is nice that much of the State is avail to hunt without a special draw to residents. Is this area a special draw for you younghunter.

You have quite a gift for photography. As I spend more time in the woods scouting my desire to be able to get decent digital pics grows, but I don't want to start another insanely expensive habit. Any recommendations on a good place to start equipment wise re: camera, lenses, filters, tripods, etc.

nice pics younghunter.

you shoot the FZ10 right? do you use a tcon with it? I hear the olympus 1.7x or 1.4x works pretty good with that cam.

Quacker,
I would look on ebay if i was you. The camera i use is the panasonic FZ10 and you can get in on ebay used for around 300-400 bucks. PLUS the new FZ30 just came out so Im sure you will be able to get the FZ10 for even cheaper! EBay also has a lot of lenes, etc.

Lanlord,
I use the FZ10 most of the time, I don't have the teleconverter. How much does it run?

Lee,
I wish I could hunt these bulls this fall, its a limited quota unit and i don't have a tag :(

Very cool. The bulls here in NM are still in bachelor herds as well. I wish i could take pics like you. I would always have cool screen savers.
My son my talk me into that FZ10 as a early Xmas present just for that.

That'a too bad man. Seems like you have a real gift for getting up close on those bulls. The scenery reminds me alot of the foot hills above Boise.. can't wait to get back for a hunt.

Well, Olympus used to make the B300/1.7x telephoto, but they stopped making them. That is the one I used on my sony. It was one awesome lens. You can still find them used.

You can still get the Olympus TCON 14B (1.4x) which is a very good telephoto

this is what you would look like with the 14B

You can get a 14B for $150. you have to get an extension tube, and maybe a step up/down ring to retrofit it. Let me know if you need help rigging it out and I can look into it further if you want. I'm recallilng from memory here.

you can get them cheaper used.. probably for less than $100, if $150 is stretching the purse too thin.
