I was wondering if there are any san diego county hog hunters out there, that have access to or know a public spot where there have been hog sightings? I have been hearing about the sightings in el capitan grande indian reservation. the hogs have been seen on the resevation by the banks of the water usually spoted by fishermen in herds of 20 to 30. i have been going to eagle peak road to cedar creek waterfalls if anyone living or hunting in these areas has seen any pigs let me kno

Ur right and right at the end of the trail there is a no trespassing sign but twenty feet past that is forest service trail markers and signs do you kno what that is about? On my way out that same day and I saw sum rangers at the top of the trail and they didn't say anything to me about it so I don't kno? I kno that there is the state park there is that where it begins?

According to DFG EIGHT pigs were taken 2010-2011 in San Diego County. Good luck.

There's a section of the state park you can hunt. Check the dfg website and cleveland national forest website there's maps and directions. They alsl tell you where they were last seen and when.

Ive spoken to many people who hunt that area. People who see all the signs and take lots of time to try and find those pigs. The only person who really knows whats going on in that area is a gentleman by the name of Doug. The times ive spoken to him, hes given me the best advice and the most probable areas to hunt. If anything, you should try and get some advice from him. CNF is practically his backyard. IMO start with him.

I've whacked one (or maybe it was two) with a bow, on public land in SD county. My hunting partner killed an absolute monster boar (300lbs. +) with a bow, also on public land in SD county. His was so big we had to reinforce his car port with 2x4's to hold it up while skinning.

I found some great signs a while back. But, you will have to walk out about 1 to 1.5 hours to get to where that was. They were really fresh and a lot when I discovered them. But a month, then two months went by and no new signs at the same location (Descanso district). They moved. It is like chasing a ghost. I too hear a lot of folks saying, "Oh, the pigs are going crazy and tearing everything up!" Unfortunately no one I have met have either personally seen a pig or no landowners are willing to let hunters hunt on lands. I would like to see an official survey or census from who and where these pigs sightings are.

I have seen the CNF pig map with the reddened zones (I don't think it has been recently updated for some time now) Hear say sucks, it would be nice to get offical word.

Until then, dusty boots and brow sweat for me, lol!

Love to know where, Wild1...... :prayin :

I've found rooting sign in one spot in north county wehre I hunt, but it looked a couple weeks old when I found it last fall. Think they were just passing through. Was hoping to get one on camera, but no sign of them in the month I had it out there.

Got my .06 and bow ready though, if I ever do get one. Never taken a pig yet, but in time........

I spend a lot of time in CNF and have seen some sign but they move back and fourth from private to public. A rancher I've done some work for has had problems with them and whenever I've mentioned "helping" they've said no. With all the rain we just had, they should be moving around a little more.

Ha, know that feeling. When we cranked Rick's 300 pounder up on the hoist at FHL the rafters started groaning and creaking so I got the hell out of the way just in case they came down along with the hog.
