San diego Otay mountain hunting

Has anyone hunted at the otay mountain public land?? If yes, how is it I'm trying to find a new hunting spot closer to home (Chula vista) I hate having to drive almost 2 hrs to mc cain valley and I did try hollenbeck canyon which by the way was really bad! Nothing there

Once you convince border patrol you're not smuggling you can hike to your hearts content, I know a guy that killed a buck there last season, we left a car at the bottom and drove up to the top and hunted down, brutal country, bring lots of water, We saw 3 deer and a group of illegals during our 7 hour jaunt

Otay mountain holds a few deer it's hard to hunt though because the brush is overgrown in most places

I'll be more concern of my vehicle left alone. If illegals find it, you're screwed. They will take anything they can. Careful, I was going to hunt otay mountains last year but yeah for me it's not worth it. Good luck and post pictures if you bag one...

Watch your 6 down there. My brother in law and I hunted there hard a few years ago. Tons of sign, never saw a deer, 1 bobcat about 20 feet away from us, tons of border patrol and tons of illegals. Super sketchy at 0600
