What?! Actual pig sign in the CNF? Incredibly psyched for you that you found that spot; good luck!

(between this and the news spot last week is really getting my blood flowing. I will get one of these mystery pigs this year!)

I missed that news spot. Do you remember which channel it was? I'd like to see if its still online somewhere.

Dan, I caught the transcript of the video spot (originally broadcast on channel 10 San Diego I believe).

When I get home I'll see if I can dig up the link.

As soon as FG posted those maps the hogs bailed out from the hunting pressure. I know of plenty of areas with hogs but mostly on private land or really hard to get to. I was on the edge of a canyon early and you could hear them in it but it was so thick you can't see them. If you try to go in you make so much noise they simply disappear. Hard to hunt these buggers.

No joke, I think I know EXACTLY where those photos are. I found some good sign a couple months ago, not as fresh as yours, but there was lots of it. I know alot of places in So Cal can look familiar, but that clearing, and that low scrub oak look eerily familiar.

I'll head back out to my spot soon and take a little walk, see if anything has shown up recently. Maybe throw up a trail camera.

Nice find for you! Keep poking around, see if you get lucky there.

I had to push past brush bro! It was a natural clearing. If it is, maybe we can share (like the old days) just like me know what CNF mapbook page and square. After you shoot, I will track somewhere else. I will do the same. My family eats the meat I get (no kidding). I hope it is the same, just let me know. I didn't get any smell. Just visual signs. I think they are hunkered down in the really think brush by the water....

Thanks for the PM. I guess places do look alike, even if they are 10 miles apart..... LOL

I make take you up on that offer, if I can get into them. And you don't have to kid about eating them, as most of us eat what we shoot also. Nothing better than wild game in my opinion....

I hope you guys found something...I went pig hunting for the first time recently and at one point a friend was pointing out that there was a pig on the other side of some brush from me, and I could hear it moving around but I could not find it...I ended up picking up another pig on a nearby ridge.

No, it was BHCR. I want to spend some time on public land but right now time is at a premium. I've been thinking about just scouting the San Diego area, and then coming back when a friend has time.

I've hunted down in the CNF, bellow Julian off of Eagle Peak road. it's a really small piece of public land. the only sign I found was off of Kessler Flat? I cant remember off the top of my head. Anyway, there's a nice lil draw that heads south and dumps in the the deeper canyon bellow. That's the only place I saw a little itty bitty hog sign, one turd, ha! anyway it still had some color to it but was old for sure. I met a local hunter down there, I forget his name now, really nice guys. He's the one who took the original pix of the hogs down there. At that point, I believe i was there in Nov. 2011, he hadn't seen a hog since Archery Deer season...? Some of the areas we asked him about he agreed were a good place to look but about a days hump through some gnarly bush. Oh and plenty of poison oak in some of those creek bottoms. oh and watch out for the rattlers too. Some guy got nailed down in one and died before they could get him to the road.

good luck and good hunting

I have some useful info about the pig in San Diego if anyone is in for a hunt. I've been out a couple times in the past week and hopefully getting closer to them. Found tons of signs but no pigs are in my freezer yet. I'm down to team up if some of you are in for a group hunt.
