:hog chewing:How do we find up to date pig harvest statistics for S.D. county and Cleveland Nat'l Forest ? Stats should include tags filled (hunt and depredation) , road kill , and number of pigs trapped . Could also include close encounters of the swine kind. These stats should either back up or shoot down feds claim of current swine problem in So Cal .

I am under the impression that the link Itdann just provided is for Hunting ONLY stats. I have not seen any depredation permit kill stats but did read somewhere that those numbers look better that the Hunting ones do.... that's private land for you.

Hey , anybody out there with Fish n Feathers got any real data on depredation tags filled in S.D. area last year ? 6 hunting tags reported in 2009/2010 season. 14 "possible" oinkers on one ranch...... 20 whole pigs in how many hundreds of square miles ? Feds want to spend how much cuz of 20 porkers ? Millions of dollars in losses in Sonoma County vineyards because of feral pigs and S.D. is in peril ? How many pigs taken in Monterey county last season ? How about Kern ? I'm so confused.....

Exactly.

The stats I gave are the hunting tags filled, and only those that got mailed in. I'd say you could easily double and maybe triple that to get a reasonable guess.

Still, that's not alot of pigs, certainly not worth $1 millon of the taxpayers money.
