Anyone know the current status of the San Gabriel Gun Club rifle range closure? I heard from someone that it may be closed down for shooting. I'm going to call them tomorrow, since I want to check the zero on a couple of my deer rifles.

As of november 5 it will be closed for good. according a post over on Benchrest Cental.Com.

I don't understand how this happens when people buy in an area of a known noise issue.

I used to live in the flight patch of John Wayne Airport and now the CMPD helicopters rattle our windows when they take off directly over head. But you don't see us tryiong to shut them down.
They were hear before we are and we have grown used to it.

I'm going to miss that range and willl have to drive to ASR and shoot with all teh gang bangers now.

I live in Torrance. Anyone know where the nearest rifle range for me to go to? Someone I know mentioned a place called Ageles something or other. I need to verify the zero on a couple of rifles.

Mntngoat,
Thanks for the link. I called the San Gabriel Gun Club to day and they said they will remain open until Nov5th. Ill be there Tues. to verify the zero on my deer rifles. I like to verify the zero and then shoot a fouling shot after I cleam them.

I was trap shooting today and one of the guys mentioned Burro Canyon. Anyone know anything about this range?

Thanks for the help.

I believe that will be the site of where the San Gabriel benchrest club will be moving to once the range is closed.

I was at Fish Canyon today and overheard a couple of the San Gabriel Shooting Club members talking about Burro Canyon. They indicated that Fish Canyon is luxury compared to Burro Canyon. They have outhouses there and you need to bring your own toilet paper. Anyone ever shoot at Burro Canyon? Would like some first hand feedback from one of the JHOers.

I personally have never been to Burro canyon, but have talked to folks that have, and they didn't have much good to say about it... Also, is supposedly where the gang bangers go...

Looks like I will be going to the Angeles Shooting range. I guess someone bar b q's hamburgers there and the store has reloading supplies?!

I am also told that there is suppose to be a HUGE, very nice range owned by the Fish & Game, just a little this side of Redlands. Has coffee shops etc...

How does one get to the Angeles Shooting Range? Starting from the 405 North at the 110 FWY?

Well first, the address is 12651 Little Tujunga Caqnyon, Lake View Terrace, Ca 91342. Their ph # 1-800-499-4486... Website is "www.angelesranges.com"

They are 2 miles north of the 210 fwy off the Osborne exit, off either the 210 or 5 fwy... Osborne deadends at foothill, then begins again past the 210 fwy. Turn up Osborne which becomes Little Tujunga Canyon road. The turnoff to the range is 1/2 mile past the ranger station on your left.

In other words you could take the 110 north to the 5 & exit Osborne. OR take the 110 north to the 5 and
then west on the 2 and then exit Osborne. No idea which would be the easiest &/or the quickest. The 2 is a very nice wide open, non-busy fwy & might be a good be. Maybe mapquest would help?

I'm still having a hard time getting over losing the San Gabriel Gun Club. Man that sucks, and is so typical how everything is going. We've lost so many shooting ranges over the years it is unbelievable. Now we're down to almost nothing here in L.A.. I get the feeling we are a dying breed :(
