The First Annual Hunter’s Expo Coming To Overland Park

1/17/08

Overland Park, Kansas —The Kansas City Area chapter of Safari Club International will host the SCI Kansas City Hunter’s Expo on February 15th to 17th at the Overland Park Convention Center.

The three-day event is the first of its kind in the Kansas City area and will feature exhibits by gun makers, outfitters and numerous name-brand outdoor industry companies. A full slate of Pro-Staff seminars on big game and waterfowl hunting is scheduled throughout the event. The seminars will be presented by well-known hunting experts and TV personalities.

Seminar speakers include outdoor writer and Alaskan hunting guide Bob Robb; Travis “T-Bone” Turner of the hit TV series Realtree Roadtrips; Jason Housley, host of Hunter’s Journal TV; John Vaca, nationally recognized champion waterfowl caller and Final Approach Field Pro, as well as a host of other professional hunters and outdoor experts.

“We are excited to bring to the Kansas City metropolitan area a true hunting expo,” said Dan Hertzog, chapter vice-president.

Hertzog said the Expo’s highlight will be Friday and Saturday night auction banquets where hundreds of items such as big game hunts to Africa, Europe and North America will go on the auction block along with fine hunting gear and artwork by well-known artists. An alert bidder can take home some terrific bargains while supporting the Kansas City Chapter’s important efforts in hunter education, safety, hunter awareness, conservation and support of our military.

Participants in the SCI Kansas City Hunter’s Expo include Bushnell, CZ-USA, Dead Down Wind and Bass Pros Shops along with scores of hunting outfitters and makers of top-quality outdoor products.

“Kansas City has some exciting and worthwhile shows,” said Paul Marsh, Bass Pro Shops promotional manager. “Now we have a true hunting expo to call our own.”

The doors open at the Overland Park Convention Center on Friday February 15 at 4 pm, Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm, and Sunday from to 9 am to 5 pm. Admission is $6.50 for adults and children under 14 are free. Tickets are available at the door and discount coupons are available at the Olathe Bass Pro Shops.
