I'm up at the SCI show this week in Reno. Big show with lots of exhibitors. Today I talked with Brunton, Nikon, Snipepod, B&H Photo and a few artists and studios. A lot of the new gear isn't out yet and will be debutted at SHOT in Feb. I spent 6 hours walking the floor today and only covered about 1/3 of the booths.
George Bush Sr. was here to kick off the show this morning. Ollie North is here signing his book along with James Swan the outdoor writer and Jim Shockey. There were some good seminars about ammo and rifles today but I stayed on the show floor. I'm going to try and make a seminar or two tomorrow.
This show has a lot of artwork, awesome sculptures and paintings from all over the world of animals and scenery. Great mounts, jewlery and furs too.
The weather is good, just a bit nippy at night at 18F compared to SoCal.
I would have posted some pics here tonight but I left my camera download cable at home. I may have to use the press room computer media card reader to see if I can get my pics on here somehow.
The auctions start tomorow and run through Saturday. Many people are here to book a hunt. Most of them recommend checking out the outfit you want to book with before arriving here and knowing what the hunt is worth. They also recommend having a ceiling on your bid price so you don't overpay by getting caught up in the bidding. There are hunting, fishing, and photo safari trips from all over the world to check out.
More tomorrow and hopefully some pics.
