Last week I was up in the Black Hills of my home state, South Dakota doing some scouting. My soon to be brother in-law drew an archery elk tag by pure luck so I went out to do some scouting and get the exercise.

Me at 6100 feet, pretty high for South Dakota!

Great photos

That velvet bull.........thats a great pic.

And hooka! Those Turks look like a fun hunt, much different that our Cali oaks and grassland I hunt.

Love the Black Hills. Spent six weeks walking all over the place during geology field camp years ago and I've always wanted to go back. Good luck this season.

Hey BoandME what unit did you draw in? I am from Rapid. Saw a 5x5 and 4x4 bulls last night just down the road from my house.

I have a few years of preference now for a bow tag in H3 and I hear ya about getting out and scouting for elk. I think H1 is the only unit that I don't know very good. I am guiding a guy that drew a H3 rifle bull tag this fall and a couple guys that drew H2 cow tags. Should get lots of time in this year looking for elk. Shoot me an email i think i enabled it.
