I have reminant parts of an 1842 series 1847 Springfield 69 cal smoothbore musket :need stock, bands and ramrod if anyone knows of a source for parts email me.thanks for your assistance.
Thanks for the help!Yes ,w/o success neither navy arms or dixie could help,I contacted my nephew in NYS,who looked it up in his Fladerman Book He has a friend in Bullville,NY whose dad was a well known collector & dealer and he had nothing either.Dixie said I have a couple of hundred dollars worth of original parts:butt plate, 1847 Springfield side plate, hammer, trigger & springs with trigger guard.
Too bad about Dixie. Ever considered getting a Repro and swapping the original parts into it? Not a purely vintage gun, but it would be less frustrating than having all those servicable parts laying about unused.~AMMOe
You might want to try Gun Parts Corp. out of West Hurley, NY. they do carry some parts for the older muzzle loaders, but most of their parts are for more modern firearms. Give them a call, if they only have several parts for a paticular gun, they will not list it in their catalog, but can do a computer check to see if they have it in stock.
