Ok,
we are thinking real positive about this weeks hog hunt, going to next to where Tusker saw lots and got his big one.

So can you experienced guys give instructions on how to process the hogs? Got plenty of fish cleaning knifes and 150 qt coolers.
need saws, saws all?? or ??? can vaccum bag or wrap right there. Or is this not a good idea? can u buy game bags where?

Come back,
thanks in advance

Killzone,

I hate to say this so much, but I'd recommend running a search on this topic. Might also check Recipes and Meat Care for even better detail. Just use Butchering Hogs for a keyword... There are a lot of threads on this, and some great info has been handed out.

You can quarter a hog with a good knife (or two). A hacksaw helps a lot, or if you're good with a machete that's an excellent way to do the job. Once you've got him quartered, get him on ice (that 150 qt cooler is fine) and wait until you're home with a good table and some running water to do the rest. It'll make it much easier to do the work cleanly and safely.

Then check out THIS LINK.

Killzone,
It's not hard to do, however; it would take me way to long to describe it in writing. I would recomend having someone with you that has done it before. It's not hard.
AND-- Try not to mess up the tenderloin or back straps. You'll be bummed if you do!
