Good to see the kids having fun. I saw a couple dads out with their kids having a ball. Temps were low 90s so much more enjoyable today.

Didn't make it to blythe, truck is limping with rear axle seal leak. Got out to San jacinto at 5pm to 6pm but it was dead. All the good spots filled up too. 20 vehs west of the kiosk along river treeline and far west treeline. One guy said the morning shoot was good.

Changed locations to old secret spot and got a few pokes in. Need more practice with this new mossberg. Bonus was as i parked 30 quail walked across the road going to roost.

Heading to blythe Thursday. I will post some scouting reports for those heading out for the weekend

I got to Blythe an hour before stop time and found birds.
I have a new personal best. The smallest whitewing I have ever shot. The only way I could get a smaller one would be to use a stick, tip the nest and shoot it on the way down.
There are still bigger birds flying. They're just not as dumb.

Hit up Bakersfield the last day of season. Many folks out shooting still.
I shot about half a box or more.

IMHO, the birds were hit hard. If you were moving and the birds were 100+ yards they would flare off path way out. Super wary.

Flushing in the groves happened out of your vision. Getting out of there fast upon hearing footsteps and not even seeing you.

Fun day out nine the less.

There were lots of folks hunting on the opener and 2 follow up days this first half. I shot locally the last 2 days, pretty light on birds. Still fun and the dog rated it as excellent.
