Share Your STEP OUTSIDE Experience in the Story & Photo Contest
NEWTOWN, Conn.-The joy of spending quality time with family and friends
is often reflected in the outdoor activities we participate in together.
STEP OUTSIDE is a program that encourages sportsmen and sportswomen
to invite friends and family to participate in target shooting, hunting,
archery and fishing. Newcomers are mentored through these activities and
great memories are created that last a lifetime!
Now, if you can put these experiences in a photograph or short story,
you can achieve recognition by entering the STEP OUTSIDE Photo & Story
Contest, administered by the National Shooting Sports Foundation.
"We want to celebrate the natural bonding and quality time spent
together that results from sportsmen and sportswoman introducing someone
to their favorite outdoor activity," says Cyndi Dalena, STEP OUTSIDE
national coordinator. "We know that there are thousands of introductory
experiences that have brought families together and positively impacted
lives. STEP OUTSIDE wants to hear about these stories and share them
with others."
The contest is open to anyone that has either introduced a newcomer to,
or been introduced to, target shooting, hunting, archery or fishing. The
stories don't need to be long; contest rules recommend 250 to 1,000
words. Any true-life story or photo that reflects the STEP OUTSIDE theme
can be submitted for entry. Activities must have taken place between
October 1, 2003, and December 31, 2004, and entries must be received by
December 31, 2004. Entry forms and complete contest rules are available
at http://www.stepoutside.org
