The area I hunt in East Texas is so thick, that it is virtually impossible to hunt sheds. Because of that, I didn't grow up hunting sheds. I have been deer hunting in a great area in NW Oklahoma for the past few years and finally decided to go on my first shed hunt up there. I finally started my 2-day shed hunt that I previously had asked for advise about. My six year old son and I made the 9 hour drive yesterday for our hunt. Today we walked many miles and had some success. We saw literally 100's of deer today in our area and the surrounding wheat fields that we don't have access to. We only saw a few small bucks that were carrying one side. We ended up with a mixed bag including one 8 pt dead buck, one button buck skull, one buck skull that had the antlers cut off, 2 doe skulls, one old 6 pt side, one fresh 2 pt side, and various turtle shells and cow skulls. We are going to give it another try tomorrow. We had a great time today just being outside walking around together. The dead buck was 2.5 years old and scored 115 and the 6-pt side scored 57. Sorry no pics of the 2-pt fresh side (small anyway). Attached are a few pics from our trip. Some of these pictures are from my cell phone.

Seeing your pics brought back memories of my Grandpa teaching me about hunting, fishing, lakes, woods and dogs. Along the way, he slipped in those important life lessons that this 12 year old never forgot...like squeeze when you shake hands...always keep your tackle box neat 'cause that's how a fisherman sizes up another fisherman...Don't hit the dogs, because one day you might be the dog...wash your hands before you eat in a duck blind, because you never know who handled that summer sausage...and last, but not least...NEVER, EVER fire your first 12 ga unless it is firmly seated into your shoulder...LOL!
Thank you for jogging the fond memories about my grandfather.

We had another good day today. We added 3 more small sheds, a dead spike buck, and 2 more dead does. We had a fun trip, although I am a little disappoint that we didn't find more fresh sheds or big sheds. A great time in spite of that.
