BuckSnort....that's a lot of good advice packed in a short article. I think you've pointed out one of, if not the most important thing in finding sheds. Even here where I am, where the deer don't migrate, there's a lot of places you can search, that will have lots of old sign, droppings, rubs etc that look good but will never have a shed in them. One of the habits I've developed is to "scout" the areas periodically through late Jan on into end of Feb to make sure I know where they're bedding and traveling AT THAT TIME. Some time near the end of that period they'll scatter out some and venture all over feeding, "breaking out" so to speak and will make a lot of signs that mislead. Going back to and scouring the areas they were during the usual shedding time has enabled me to find some sheds every year. Not a lot but there aren't a lot here to begin with. Your advice seems to be exactly on the money.
