Try the Folsom Shooting Club at Sac Valley Shooting Center (open M,T,F,S,S) near Ione. They have an excellent 300 yard range with shaded benches.
They will make you shoot a target at 100 to demonstrate that you can keep it on paper. Then Stephanie will issue you a 300 yard Qualification Card so you can use the 300 yard range.
I chuckled to myself about how easy it was going to me to punch a nice group of holes in the 100 yard target. First shot wasn't on paper so I got the spotting scope to make sure I wasn't missing something. Nope, not there. Second shot also not on paper, so I fired one into the berm to see where they were going. I was shooting about 12 -14 inches high. Only then did I realize that it was still set for a 600 yard melon shoot I had been to which just happened to be 15 minutes elevation putting the target knob back to zero.
They make you start out at 100 so you don't shoot their target frames to pieces with guns that aren't zero'd.
Lincoln Rifle Club also has slots for target holders at 200, 225, and 300. They are open to the public on weekends
