My wife's boss lives right there and has been complaining that they tear up the whole neighborhood. Just walking down the street bold as can be. I told him he could borrow my crossbow, and I'd be willing to help. Maybe now he'll actually take me up on it...

Crossbow seems like the right tool for the job. He/she could name you as his agent on the permit I do believe.

http://www.dfg.ca.gov/wildlife/hunting/pig/depredation.html

12 years or older with valid hunting license. FGC §4654. and T14 §708(f).
21 years or older; permitee or designated agent(s) who must be named in permit. T14 §401(e)(2).

Persons Authorized to take/act as agent

I was surprised they didn't specify archery or crossbows, but seem to allow firearms.

Ironic how people who want more gun control are reaching out to the public with firearms to help control this problem.

Thisis very bad…How am I going to get folks to come to Lake Sonoma if they can justshoot a pig form their back porch. It’s going to make the cardiac arrest educinghillsides at the park less appealing!

Nothing to stress about, Rangerjoel. I'll pick up the Lake Sonoma slack. It's called taking one for the team and when it comes to pigs I am a real team player.

looks like i need to make friends up there or buy a house. lol oh and i will still always hold out hope that when the pigs get real bad at places like lake Sonoma, they will open the hunts to shotgun at least. The big dream will be when the state takes pig off the game list and puts it back on the rat list. were it should b. why are we going to wait so long and let people miss use the hog trouble for there own benefit while the states lands are ravished.

I agree with you there.
Ironically, I'm tying to find some time to head south to Monterey County & pay a guide to get a pig.

I was on a depredation hunt last year, on a golf course in the SF East Bay. We were surrounded my multi million dollar homes. Started the hunt at 9pm after the country club closed. Anything on the hard pavement/residential streets was cross bow territory. Anything on the golf course or surrounding hills we would use a spotlight and rifle. Came around a corner and saw a bunch of pigs. Stopped the Jeep, got out and whacked two at about 50 yards. Great night...

Here's some wild pigs in a south San Jose neighborhood. ....tra

I hear ya iforge03 , this proves California is a greedy state when it comes to wild pig hunting and depredation for an invasive species, for all the tag money, time and effort we hunters have to contribute to this state all ready for legitimate game animals they still want to charge us out the but to hunt an evasive non native species and every one knows how tuff it is to hunt pigs in this state as it is a ready.
I really am going to miss hunting Ca. But I am not going to miss the frustration of trying to get a decent pig hunt with out jumping through hoops.
Can't wait to hunt wild pigs in Florida here's what it takes to hunt wild pigs there. Hope it don't piss u off...tra
