I saw some really nice birds just outside the town of Walker, where the west fork of the river just about dries up.  I was wondering if anyone knew if that's private farmland or not.  Should've picked up a map when I was there.  I was surprised to see them so big and healthy looking with it being so dry up there.

Almost all the meadow and river area, east of 395, is private land.  You'd have to get up into the hills to Nat Forest or BLM land.

SDHUNTER is right. I live in walker and there are plenty of quail and lots of areas to hunt them. there are some really nice mountain quail also. Mill Canyon, East Side lane towards topaz are areas to consider.
