Ok guys, here's some info that may help save a cam or two.  The nut that holds the female side of the speaker jack to the cam came off and when the male end was inserted it pushed the female end inside the cam onto the flash circuit board and the fireworks began.  Now the cam is constantly winding when the batteries are installed and the LCD panel shows nothing.  Any ideas on repairing or is it toasted?

Just a note to remind you to check the small things occasionally.

Unless something got bent and is still touching, it's probably history,  if it landed on the HV of the flash cap circuit especially.

reminds me of my TV repair days when everybody used flat antenna lead and skinned back the wires to put under the antenna terminals on the set.   Strands would break off and fall into the TV Chassis thru vent slots in the back cover...... Let The Smoke Roll is right
