Here is a nice So. Cal. forky set. (Displayed by future hunter)
[attachment=33265:attachment]
I actually shot at this deer 3 months before I found his set. I obviously missed him. I put in alot of effort to try and get this one. Hunted em for two weeks straight. Scouted him for months prior. One of my best "cat and mouse" encouters too date. He seemed to be taunting me. But I was fortunate enough to stumble across his nice rack. I was actually bird huntin in his area, busted a bird. Went to pick up the bird and it was laying 10 inches away from his right antler. I immeadiately knew it belonged to "my" deer. Picked up the bird and the antler. Yelled back to my dad who was off to my left and as I was showing it to him, I spotted his left antler 10 feet in front of me laying in the grass. They seemed to be still wet at the base, so they must of been really fresh. In fact, based on the encounters I had with him, I am sure that he probably saw me coming up that draw that morning bird huntn and decided to leave me what started our game in the 1st place (He looked beautiful in velvet, nice and thick forky). Never saw him again. I have found lots of sheds that are much larger, but I am truely fond of these. He out smarted me time after time during my chase, even when I did get a shot, he heard the string and reacted. I will always be humbled by the sight of his set.
