I used to make a few knife handles from them for custom forged knives but it got to where I didn't like cutting a beautiful antler up. I do make a few antler/diamond willow lamps once in awhile.
I gave up trying to figure out what to do with them long ago.I would never sell them and can't see ruining a good antler trying to make something.
I always leave sheds lay out in pile in a corner of the house from one season to the next.During the year I'll play around with them and admire them, then when the new season starts throw them in the box with sheds from past seasons.A couple times a year I'll dump all my sheds out on floor and check them out.
One day I'll have my own playroom and I'll put all my hunting/fishing trophys in room,my sheds will go right next to my deer racks I've harvested.
I found this one while out turkey hunting a couple seasons ago and my father-in-law suprised me with this. I think I'll try my hand at building something when my shed collection gets large enough to do so.
That is an unusual lamp and a nice industrial strength shed at that. I can't bring myself to cut, maim or otherwise defile a decent shed. Might consider messing with small ones. I think I've seen folks do scrim-shaw art on a large antler and that could be cool. Lots of possibilities there.
