Black coyote. I met a guy in Missouri near where I squirrel hunt who had whacked several all black yotes. Never seen one myself.

Here is a pic of one from D. Kyle.

To me, his tail looks a little too long to be a coyote, more along the lines of a red fox tail?

a pix of a black ? and an albino bobcat (on the bowhunting forum (Todd's post))  wow! what'll be next (no buzzards tho, ha ha)

Tinhorn,

The albino bobcat was a joke.  It's one of the property owners cats.  He's got three white ones with the cropped tails in addition to about seven others.

It definately looks like a black phase coyote to me, just like the one in Jesse's post. I saw one here in PA a few years ago, I watched it stalk and kill a large ground hog 20yrds from me.

Wow...I looked again.  I believe the boys are right on the melonistic yote.  I've seen lots of different shades but that's a beaut.  Where's my coyote call...That's a true trophy to me!
Melonism [discoloration of skin pigment] is the condition that causes all black fur.  We have a clan of gopher near hear that are the same way.  Their mothers can be brown or black as well.....good job...now bring him to justice...yoteee'

I think its a redfox that is backlit and the exposure makes it look black.

I agree the scanned picture aint the best quality. But the original picture, make no mistake about it, is jet black.
