Reserved hunts cancelled at Crane and Newport

Public hunting, fishing and recreational access to U.S. military areas in Indiana is being restricted due to increased security measures.

Reserved deer hunts are cancelled at Crane and Newport military facilities. Recreational access to Atterbury Reserve Forces Training Area is being restricted, but reserved deer hunts may still be conducted.

Atterbury Reserve Forces Training Area (Camp Atterbury)

Reserved deer hunts are scheduled to take place as planned, but may be cancelled at any time. All other hunting and fishing is prohibited at this time. If you have been drawn for a reserved hunt at Atterbury, contact the Atterbury Fish and Wildlife Area office at (812) 526-2051 prior to traveling to the property to make sure that the hunt will take place.

Public access to Atterbury Fish and Wildlife Area is open.

Crane Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center

Public events and activities have been cancelled for this year, including the base's annual fall foliage drive through, fishing, hunting, boating, hiking and golf.

Newport Chemical Depot

All public access, including reserved deer hunts, is cancelled.

Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge in southern Indiana (formerly Jefferson Proving Ground) is open to hunting.

this is no big suprise. it is just too bad for people who use these areas to hunt
