The weather has been too bad here for any outdoor shots lately so I figured I would try something new. Photographing children is not easy!!! My youngest nephew wouldn’t stop making goofy faces so I had to ask his dad to be my assistant (he had his fingers in his nose and mouth for most of the shots… with his tongue sticking out). He is sitting on kind of a raised window bench; with the tight crop it looks like he is sitting on the floor. My youngest niece wasn’t so bad. I guess she knew the sooner we got picture taking over with… the sooner she could go back to playing. Please feel free to critique these, I would like to know how I did. I placed my nieces image in the critique section of FM (only got a couple of replies), I’m not brave enough to place these in the people section.

These are outstanding shots, and if I were you I would post them in the People shots forum in FM, or on Steves Digicams critiques and techniques or both. I've never done any protraits myself. I think you would get some great hits in Steves forums. Looks to me the nephew is as calm as can be for this shot...LOL...I can imagine all of what you have described though..Good stuff here!

Thanks Hideandwatch, I know when I take bad animals pics, but I'm not so sure about these. And, if you only knew how long it took me to work up the courage to post any bird shots on FM... you would understand why I don't want to post these (lol).

They're very nice shots Clutch. BTW - I've seen far worse posted on FM. I like them.

Thank you Gil, that's a pretty nice complement considering what I usually see over there. Once in awhile the guys in the 'People Photography' section can be brutal on each other... it's kind of fun to watch sometimes (lol).

Thank you Doemasters.

Here's a link to the fredmiranda.com home page for the different forums...

I think People Photography and Wedding Photographer are the only two that you have to be a member to view. It's really worth being a member (it's free), the people on that site can answer any question related to photography that you can come up with.

They're just fine. I'd like to see some of the distracted pix of the nephew. You shouldn't hesitate a moment over posting them anywhere. That being said, others that you respect as photogs will be the ones to help you grow. Keeping your pix to yourself will only undermine you.

Thank you Bill, that is actually some really good advice. I know posting my bird pictures to be critiqued really helped a lot. I think I will try to get a few more shot's before asking for advice at FM.

I would love to post some 'out-takes' of my nephew, but I only asked my sister about posting these... I don't think she would go for the fingers in the nose being posted (lol).
