Son kills first hog

My 9 yr old scored on his first hog yesterday. He shot a small boar - about 70lbs, perfect to fit in the smoker. It also was a good learnind day as the first 4 bunches we saw had wet sows so he didn't shoot at these. He took it pretty good and finally it paid off. Of course guess who forgot the camera

. He sure was full of himself for the first hour on the drive home talking about his head shot(lucky) over and over. Finally he got quite and I looked in the back and he was dead asleep. What a day!!!!!!

Thanks for the report. Moments like that in the field are just so precious. I can't wait til my son is old enough to start hunting with me as well.

He was shooting an H&R single shot 243 with the Barnes non lead x bullets . About a 60 yard shot. We spotted them from about 300 yards and put the sneak on them. It was a tough sneak as we ran across two groups of turkeys with 20 in each bunch between us and the pigs. Set up the shooting sticks and he put the hammer down. I got more excited about him getting one than I ever have with any of mine. Now we can't wait for turkey season.
