What's up everyone. I'm new to officially being a member of the forum and excited to pick your brains about your experiences. I predominantly shoot a compound but ocasionally rifle hunt. Typically like many of you i hunt deer, bear and turkey. So I'm planning a few lake sonoma pig hunts in both fall and spring this year. I've had friends who have bow hunted there who were fairly successful. Any tips from those of you who have frequented the area? Is it better to hunt the fall or utilize the rainfall in springtime for tracking, Wallows etc? Should I work the fingers such as skunk creek or stick close to main bodies of water? Any advice is appreciated. Thx!

Its a fun place to hunt for sure but those pigs figure things out in a hurry! They will find that private land and only come over during dark. Go hike around and check it out, lots of great habitat. Good luck!

Nothing better than spending time with boots on the ground. Having a boat helps access. So far I've seen a big acorn drop this fall, so they'll be hitting those pretty hard. Although the last one I shot in the fall didn't taste very good. Spring is better. This time of year, in my experience they're really only on their feet the first and last 15 minutes of light. Mornings have always been better for me. Be in your spot in the dark waiting for enough light. Spring is a little different. Lot more activity.
