My son took this big boy 2 weekends ago on one of Deedy's trespass fee hunts. This was our second time to hunt with her (once in 2010) and both times he was successful. Only hunted 1 day and saw lots of fresh sign where pigs had been out that night, but after hoofing it until noon we went back to camp without spotting anything. That evening we spotted two groups of hogs coming down off the hillside of some other property that was off limits to us but headed to the barley fields on our side of the fence. Luckily we were able to get up on top and spot them but they were still on the wrong side of the fence as they went over the ridge. My boys was bummed and thought we had blown our chance but with sunlight fading we hustled up to the fence line and good fortune smiled on us. They had made a beeline for the barley and were busy feeding and we were able to get with 100 yards where he dropped the hammer on him. I tried to talk him into shooting a smaller (easier to drag) sow but when he saw the big guy his mind was made up. Snapped some quick pic's in the dark and got to work. Didn't think it about at the time.... but his rifle is unloaded in the pic..safety first!! Dragging that thing out in the dark made him wish he had followed Dad's advice. Pig or no pig it was a great time with my son.

Congrats on taking the the pig by your son, bjhbawana. Perfect size for eating...
Deedy has some good properties with loads of hogs. It just takes time and little luck to get into the right place at the right time...
The hog population is growing and there is always one out there with your name on it.

Congratulations!!!!
Father and Son moment that will last a lifetime.
I can't wait for my son to grow up so that he can shoot at some piggie's as he calls them.
He is 4 years old now. But I can't wait.

Congrats!!! Nice hog.

Congrats to your son on a fine hog.

Just an FYI

but his rifle is unloaded in the pic..safety first!!

Proper gun safety is we treat ALL guns as loaded no matter what, only unloaded guns kill people. You might want to reinforce this with your son, his hunter safety booklet should have stressed this too.
