Spear fishing for carp

I tried Spear fishing for carp over the weekend, and what a blast! Man, those things fight like crazy on the end of a pole spear, and it makes the coolest crunching sound when your spear impacts the carp. I will definitely be doing this again real soon.

What kind of are gear you using, polespear, gun?

Ive done a lot of spearfishing...never for carp.

Make sure you hit them in the head or gills with either a gun or spear. The high shoulder is another good spot . It's easier to pin them against something and grab the tip of the spear as soon as possible. My favorite way is to spear them against something, while keeping your spear pushed against the object slide your hand down around the tip of the spear to keep your fish from sliding off. You can also just slide your hand in their gills really fast. Ive done this with 10lb Jack Trevally and kept them from coming off in open water.
