Does anyone have any experience with this spotting scope? I have been thinking of getting a spotting scope to use mainly for Mule Deer hunting in Eastern Oregon and Eastern Washington. It needs to be waterproof and somewhat lightweight.

The other scope I am considering is the B&L 15-45 60mm Elite, but the cost is almost twice as much as the Eagle. Any opinions?

(Note: I posted this message under the other Optics section on hear. I just now realized this section was here, so I cut and pasted it to this section.)

Iv'e used a spotting scope for well over 25 yrs for just about everything starting with a cheap Bushnell and working my way up. I probably never will get a top of the line scope (at least price-wise) due to how tough I am on scopes/binos. I now have a Leupold Gold Ring 12x40 scope that is very clear, takes abuse and is rubber coated. It always brings comments from people who look thru it after looking thru another scope. It is 8-$900.00 so they aren't cheap but I have always been pleased with Leupolds service department no matter how old the optics. Good luck....hronk

I've always been a fan of Kowa scopes for their crisp spotter glass. Leupold has been really good to me for service on my binos. I've used the Leupold spotters and they hold up pretty good and the glass is good.

Thanks for the responses guys. I plan on going to a Wild Birds Unlimitted store to check out spotting scopes. (I had planned on just making a decision based on reading info on the internet and then ordering one online, but I guess that might not be a wise decision. So I will just learn as much as I can on the web and then go look at some scopes.)

I do like the idea of the Leupold scopes, so I will research them some more. (I really like the warranty on the Leupold's). I also like the 66mm available on the Kowa. Does anyone know what the warranty is on the Kowa scopes? I checked their website and I couldn't find any warranty information. I have heard lots of good things about the Kowa scopes.

Don't make the same mistake I made. DO NOT look through any optics that you cannot afford. If $1,000 is your limit, do not look through a $1,400 Leica. YOU"LL BE RUINED FOR LIFE!
